Overview

PayMyShare is developed, owned, and operated by APLLET LLC, a company located in New Jersey, United States. This Privacy Policy explains how APLLET LLC (“APLLET,” “PayMyShare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use PayMyShare websites, mobile applications, and related services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Service”).

PayMyShare is a shared-expense tracking and record-keeping service. It helps users create groups, record expenses, calculate balances, and record settlements made outside the Service.

PayMyShare does not maintain a wallet, hold, receive, store, or transfer user funds, connect to bank accounts, or issue payment cards. A balance marked “settled” is a record supplied by a user; it does not mean PayMyShare processed or verified a payment.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use the Service.

Information you provide

• Account information, such as your name, email address, password or authentication credentials, profile image, and account preferences. PayMyShare login is email-based only.
• Group and contact information, such as group names and the names or email addresses of people you invite or include in a group.
• Shared-expense information, such as descriptions, amounts, dates, categories, currencies, payers, participants, split calculations, comments, notes, reminders, and edit history.
• Receipt information, including photographs or files you choose to upload and information extracted from them.
• Settlement records, such as an amount, date, note, and payment-method label entered to record a payment that occurred outside PayMyShare. We do not process or verify that payment.
• Communications, including support requests, feedback, survey responses, and other messages you send us.
• Subscription information, such as your selected Pro plan, subscription status, purchase or renewal date, and a transaction or receipt identifier. Your selected payment provider collects payment details directly for web subscriptions. PayMyShare does not store complete payment-card information.

Please do not upload Social Security numbers, bank-account credentials, complete payment-card numbers, medical information, or other sensitive information that is unnecessary to use the Service.

Information provided by other users

Another user may provide information about you when they invite you to a group, add you to an expense, record a shared balance, or enter a settlement involving you. This may include your name, email address, expense details, and amounts attributed to you. If you do not have an account, we may use contact information supplied by that user to deliver an invitation or service-related notice.

Information collected automatically

• Device type, operating system, browser, app version, language, and time zone.
• IP address and approximate location derived from that address.
• Login times, screens viewed, features used, actions taken, and referring URLs.
• Crash reports, diagnostics, performance data, and security events.
• Cookie, local-storage, or similar identifiers used for sessions, preferences, performance, and security.

PayMyShare does not intentionally collect precise geolocation through the Service.

Device permissions

With your permission, the mobile app may access your camera or photo library to photograph or upload a receipt and notifications to send group activity, reminders, security, or service messages. You can manage permissions in your device settings. Denying a permission may prevent the related feature from working.

How We Use Information

We may use personal information to:

• Create, authenticate, maintain, and secure your account.
• Provide groups, expense splitting, balances, reminders, reports, receipt scanning, and settlement records.
• Display shared information to the group members or contacts you select.
• Calculate amounts owed and keep group records synchronized.
• Process and manage Pro subscriptions through Stripe or PayPal, where available.
• Send service messages, security alerts, invitations, reminders, and optional product communications.
• Respond to support requests and troubleshoot technical problems.
• Monitor performance, understand feature use, and improve the Service.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, and Terms of Service violations.
• Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and property of PayMyShare, our users, and others.

We may create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to an individual and use it for lawful purposes. We will not attempt to re-identify information that applicable law requires us to maintain in de-identified form.

Shared Group Information

PayMyShare is designed for collaboration. Information you add to a group or shared expense is visible to the users with whom you share it. Depending on available permissions, those users may be able to view, edit, comment on, or delete shared records.

Shared information may include group and member names, expense descriptions and amounts, categories, dates, comments, receipts, split calculations, balances, settlement records, and edit history. You are responsible for choosing the people with whom you share information and avoiding unnecessary sensitive information.

Expense records are not made public by default.

How We Disclose Information

Other users at your direction

We disclose group and expense information to the people you select.

Service providers

We may disclose information to vendors that provide cloud hosting, database storage, authentication, email delivery, push notifications, customer support, analytics, crash reporting, security monitoring, receipt scanning, or subscription processing. They may use information only to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by their contracts and applicable law.

Web subscription processor

Your selected payment provider processes a Pro purchase under its own privacy policy. We may receive limited information, such as subscription status, product identifier, price, country, transaction identifier, and renewal or cancellation status. We do not receive or store your complete payment-card number.

Legal, safety, security, and business transactions

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; enforce our agreements; investigate fraud or security incidents; protect rights, property, or safety; or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, asset sale, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections where required.

Sales, targeted advertising, and profiling

PayMyShare does not sell personal information for money, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Third-party services and links

The Service may link to third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and PayMyShare is not responsible for those third-party practices.

Cookies and Technologies

Our website and app may use cookies, software development kits, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, prevent abuse, measure performance, diagnose errors, and understand use of the Service.

You can control certain technologies through browser or device settings. Blocking required cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working. Because PayMyShare does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, we do not currently offer a sale or targeted-advertising opt-out. If our practices change, we will update this policy and honor legally required browser-based opt-out signals where applicable.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods depend on the information and why it was collected.

When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with it unless retention is required or permitted by law. Some shared-expense records may remain in another user’s account because they form part of that user’s records. Where appropriate, we will remove or de-identify your account identifiers from those retained shared records.

Information may remain for a limited period in protected backups and security logs before deletion through our normal retention cycle.

Your Privacy Choices

Depending on the feature, you may be able to:

• Review or update account information in the Service.
• Change notification settings or unsubscribe from optional marketing emails.
• Disable camera, photo, or notification permissions through device settings.
• Delete individual expenses or groups, subject to shared-record permissions.
• Export certain group or account information when an export feature is available.
• Delete your account through the Service or by contacting us.

We may still send non-promotional communications necessary to operate the Service, such as security alerts, password resets, subscription receipts, and material policy notices.

U.S. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

• Confirm whether we process your information and access it.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete personal information.
• Obtain a portable copy of information you provided.
• Opt out of the sale of information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling.
• Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information.
• Appeal a decision about your privacy request.
• Receive equal service without discrimination for exercising a privacy right.

PayMyShare does not currently sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or conduct profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

To submit a request, email us with the subject “Privacy Request,” describe your request, and identify your state. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and authority and will use it only to process the request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law. If we deny a request, you may appeal using the subject “Privacy Appeal.”

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to PayMyShare, contact us. We will take appropriate steps to investigate and delete the information where required.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and using appropriate security on your devices and networks.

If a security incident affects your personal information, we will provide notice as required by applicable law.

International Processing

We and our service providers may process personal information in the United States and other countries where we or they operate. Those countries may have different privacy laws than your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards.

Policy Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version and update the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where required, such as through the Service or by email.
